Good news for environmentally conscious motorcyclists, who also for 2022 will be able to benefit from the Ecobonus provided by the Conte government, which had included them in the 2021 Budget law, for the purchase of electric motorcycles and scooters.
And this incentive to purchase “green” two wheels (not only electric but also hybrid) is valid until 2026. Now let’s see how to get it, who is entitled to, and how much you can save on the purchase of a new electric motorcycle or scooter .
Ecobonus 2022 for electric motorcycles and scooters: everything you need to know
- The total figure: The Government has allocated the beauty of 150 million euros which will be divided for each year in which it will be possible to request the Ecobonus. In practice, we are talking about 20 million euros for the years 2021, 2022 and 2023, and then rise to 30 million euros that will be available for the remaining years, or from 2024 to 2026.
- I vehicles that can be purchased: the Ecobonus can be exploited for the purchase of vehicles with two, three symmetrical or asymmetrical and those with 4 wheels light and heavy. The important thing is that they are part of the categories L1e, L2e, L3e, L4e, L5e, L6e and L7e. There are no limits to power when choosing a single vehicle. Obviously the latter must be new from the factory (the Ecobonus does not apply if the vehicle is used) and must be purchased in Italy and always registered in our country. As mentioned, hybrid vehicles are also subject to the Ecobonus and not just fully electric ones.
- Who can benefit from the 2022 Ecobonus: anyone can buy a motorbike or an electric scooter and benefit from the Ecobonus without any kind of limitation due to income or whatever. The discount is applied directly by the retailer to the final price. As for the dealerships, as always, they will have to register on the platform made available to MISE to book the contribution of each individual vehicle they sell, an operation that will be confirmed within 180 days of the sale. The MISE platform, at the time of writing, is not yet available.
- How much you save with the Ecobonus 2022: The government has provided for two different discounts, namely with or without the scrapping of a vehicle. Scrapping means the delivery to the dealer of a vehicle of category L belonging to the Euro 0, 1 or 2 classes (or which has obtained the ritargatura in 2012). For vehicles subjected to re-calibration, those of category L that have obtained the six-character plate (and not 5 as previously) and the relative circulation certificate are included. The vehicle “to be scrapped” must be registered in the name of those who intend to benefit from the Ecobonus or a close family member (cohabiting) for at least 12 months. If these conditions are met the dealer must apply as40% bill on the list price, up to a maximum of 4.880 euro VAT included. Without scrapping it discount drops to 30% on the list price up to a maximum of 3.660 euro, VAT included.
Making a guess if you want to buy an electric scooter NIU NGT (which was the most sold in 2021 in Italy) its list price is equal to 4,499 euros. With a vehicle to be scrapped, the price to pay would become 2,699 euros. Without scrapping, the final price would be 3,149 euros.
