The ambition of Sakurai’s ex-creature matches the data compression of the big N: here are the dimensions of Kirby and the Lost Land
Nintendo’s “pink terror” apparently shows us that in a certain sense it is only the N of the Kyoto giant that is great: the size from Kirby and the Lost Land they intend to remain contained. After all, the good soul of Satoru Iwata turned out to be the reason behind the inclusion of Kanto in Pokémon Gold and Silver, when the talented programmer explained to Game Freak how to compress the data. Now that the game has surprised everyone with the ambition of the long-awaited abandonment of the side-scrolling formula, the Japanese giant intends to do an encore by revealing quite small dimensions.
The lost land of small size (and maintained ambitions) of Kirby
The Kirby and the Lost Land page on Nintendo eShop has confirmed the size of the game, and following the first-party title rule won’t need much room to play. While the latest adventure of Masahiro Sakurai’s eldest son, Kirby Star Allies, weighed just 4GB, the new chapter’s less linear level design debut is limited to 5,8. If you want a comparison with which to amaze us more, think of Super Mario Odyssey. The game that competed with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for the Game of the Year title weighs in at 5.6 GB, with a waste of 200 MB. Not bad, for what “just” Kirby is.
The latest gameplay trailer, included above, sports new copying skills in addition to the great classics like the Sword, the Hammer, the Bomb and the Blade. The ambition of the new title is beyond any shadow of a doubt, but the addition of the co-op makes it less likely an entirely open world level design like what we got to appreciate in Super Mario Odyssey.
