On the road to offering a sustainable car for all, Fiat takes an important step by presenting the 500X Hybrid and Tipo Hybrid. The two newcomers offer fuel consumption and CO2 emissions below 11%, for greater respect for the environment and lower operating costs. The new 48 Volt hybrid system offers first-rate features and fully electric drive.
With the introduction of the new 500X Hybrid and Tipo Hybrid, Fiat completes the electrification of its range. The journey began with the 500 Hybrid and the Panda Hybrid and continued with the new all-electric 500. Now, with the presentation of the 500X and Tipo equipped with the new 48 Volt hybrid system, Fiat is fulfilling its commitment to offer at least one low-emission version for each of its models.
Fiat’s DNA leads to efficient and simple solutions that make innovative technologies available to the general public. This was the logic behind the introduction of the 500 hybrid and the Panda, the most popular city cars in Europe, with over 200,000 units sold in 2021. Today, with the new 500X Hybrid and Tipo Cross Hybrid, the brand follows the same approach with a user-friendly and at the same time innovative and smar technology.t. Furthermore, this development is another step in Fiat’s path to meet the growing demand for hybrid technology (+ 30% compared to last year). At the same time, the unveiling of the 500X Hybrid and the Tipo Cross Hybrid further strengthens the brand’s collaboration with the charity RED.
Fiat 500X Hybrid and Tipo Cross Hybrid, reduced fuel consumption and more respect for the environment
The new hybrid system featured on the 500X Hybrid and Tipo Hybrid is efficient, environmentally friendly and economical, offering significantly lower operating costs. Based on the “Tech it Easy” logic, it is easy and practical to use, without a high degree of complexity. The secret of high performance is the combination of the new generation of the FireFly 4-cylinder Turbo engine with 1.5 liter displacement and 130 HP – 240 Nm of torque and the 48 Volt 15 kW electric motor with the new 7-speed double clutch automatic transmission.
Thanks to advanced hybrid technology, the FireFly engine is supported by a BSG electric motor, which offers silent and instant starting, while the main electric motor allows you to drive even with the heat engine off. Since an engine can idle at 47% during the WLTP cycle, the hybrid system offers maximum efficiency.
In the urban cycle, the period in which the engine runs at low load can be up to 62%. In this way, the new hybrid system offers significantly lower consumption in the city even than a diesel car (WLTP city cycle).
In particular:
4.7 L / 100 km compared to 5.0 L / 100 km of the 1.6 diesel Type
5.1 L / 100 km compared to 5.4 L / 100 km of the 1.6 diesel 500X
The advantages of the 48 Volt 1.5 T4 hybrid set are remarkable compared to the previous 1.3 T4 engine (500X) and reach up to -11% in terms of consumption and CO2 emissions (WLTP cycle).
Fuel savings and lower emissions combine with enhanced performance, cwith acceleration from standstill to 100 km / h in 8.8 seconds (Tipo) and 9.4 seconds (500X), thanks to the direct torque of the electric motor. The efficiency of the heat engine is supported at every stage by this EV engine, eliminating Turbo lag and offering an accelerator response that Fiat defines as unsurpassed. Similarly, if the car is powered exclusively electrically and needs immediate power, thanks to the BSG engine, the thermal engine starts without delay and accelerates the car vigorously. Finally, the electric motor supports the thermal during which – but also the catalyst – reaches the ideal operating temperature, further reducing emissions and consumption.
The new hybrid system offers numerous advantages to both models. One of these is the ability to move exclusively electrically in low speed conditions, such as when moving in traffic on congested roads or when parking maneuvers.. At the same time the system recovers energy during deceleration by recharging the battery.
The standard equipment of ADAS systems of Fiat 500X e Fiat Tipo Hybrid it is among the most comprehensive in its category and includes, among others, automatic emergency braking, driver attention monitoring, blind spot alarm and traffic sign reader. For both models there is the keyless access system, while only on the Tipo is also offered wireless charging for the smartphone.
The results of the new 500X and Tipo hybrid system are significant in terms of fuel consumption and emissions. The noise level is also lower, while the level of comfort and performance takes a further step forward. The set offers top-of-the-range performance, plus unprecedented capabilities for a 48 Volt hybrid system. Prices are starting from 26.450 euro for the Cross Hybrid Type, e 29.400 euro for the 500X Hybrid. Availability in dealerships is scheduled for April.
