Design
The ROG Switf PG32UQX is a decidedly impressive 32 “monitor, 727cm x 306cm for the beauty of 7.6 kg. This makes the screen quite complicated to move, however, for the benefit of great stability and solidity. As is traditional for the ASUS Rog family, i the materials are in fact of extraordinary workmanship, beautiful to look at and resistant that best reflect the design of the republic of gamers.
Lo 32 “screen is large and of extreme quality and rests on one stand truly one of a kind. It is a large stand that is attached to the back of the screen with an efficient screw system. The stand is a large silver cylinder that culminates with the ASUS Rog logo that lights up when the screen is on. The base is instead a silver tripod with a copper-colored “whirlwind” motif with an important and refined design. The base allows you to find the perfect position for the screen relative to your position thanks to the possibility of adjusting the inclination, height and rotation of the screen with great ease.
On the top of the monitor we find a USB port and a screw input to insert, for example, a webcam. In the lower part, on the other hand, we find two settings management buttons as well as a practical wheel to move easily between the various menu items. The back of the screen, as usual, houses the large amount of inputs available. In fact, we find 3 HDMI 2.0 ports, 1 DisplayPort 1.4, 2 USB 3.1 inputs, a USB 2.0 input and a 3.5mm audio input.
Honorable mention in the back
Honorable mention should be made for the back of the monitor usually left to chance. Here, the back of the screen also possesses an extraordinary charm. Beyond the intriguing patterns and the ASUS Rog logo that dominates the right side, we find, included in the package, a series of plastic inserts designed specifically to hide the wires in the lower area of the screen and the structure that hooks to the base. These are simple but really effective solutions to make the screen attractive if it does not have its back to the wall.
Technology
Going deeper into this monitor, we find all the magic that happens inside and that is reflected in extraordinary video quality.
We are faced with a 32-inch 4K (3840 x 2160) mini LED-backlit gaming monitor with 144Hz refresh rate designed for close-knit gamers. The backlight Full Array Local Dimming (or FALD), offers 1150 independent LED zones and a brightness of up to 1400 nits with certification Display HDR. All this translates into an excellent gaming experience also given by the support for processors NVIDIA G-SYNC latest. The G-SYNC returns realistic HDR and low latencies, which result in more reduced blurring and image details, such as borders, much more defined. The Quantum-dot display also offers a wide DCI-P3 98% color gamut for vivid, lifelike colors as well as smoother gradation,
Among other features, the presence of the LiveDash OLED. It is a small OLED screen positioned on the lower bezel of the monitor that can show, depending on our interests, various useful information such as temperature, system frequency, screen refresh rate and much more. Obviously it will also be possible to insert a small image to make the monitor truly ours.
Our test of the ROG Swift PG32UQX screen
To write this review, we tested the 32 ″ ROG Swift monitor for about 3 weeks during which time it became our primary monitor.
Important premise: if you intend to buy this screen, take the measurements well both of the same and of your desk. The dimensions of this ROG Swift are in fact more than important and in addition to having to physically stay on the desk, you will have to allow yourself a certain distance between you and the screen (a minimum of 60 cm). 32 ″ are not few and although they allow you to see any detail in video games in very high quality, if you do not have the right distances between you and the screen, the experience may not be the best.
With the right conditions, however, this monitor turns out to be truly superb in image quality and rendering. The monitor settings, easily accessible from the practical wheel, are well calibrated, easy to set and obviously customizable. The system offers pre-set features to choose whether you are playing FPS, an adventure or watching a movie. If you can manage light and colors, you can of course create your own custom settings. It goes without saying that like most ASUS products, this ROG Swift is too supported by Armory Cratethe ASUS app that will allow you to get even deeper into your monitor and customize settings.
With any video game, in any environmental situation, this extraordinary screen returned vivid and colorful images like no other gaming monitor had ever done in our experience. Knowing this, can we forget about the price? but most of all…
The review of the ASUS ROG Swift in pills: who is this monitor designed for?
