WhatsApp is about to introduce the ability to hide online status
For years, many users in the WhatsApp community have been clamoring for the possibility of hiding their online status. Some users want the ability to read your messages without being disturbed. Others ask for it to defend themselves from episodes of stalking or other problems seri.

As you can in the screenshot posted by WABetaInfo, you can choose to show the online status to everyone or only to people who can see your “Last Access“(So only yours Contactsyours Contacts minus those selectedi, oppure Nobody).
As with the Last Login, if you choose to hide your online status on WhatsApp you will not be able to see that of others.
However, we point out that since last year WhatsApp has started to automatically hide your Last Access from contacts with whom you have never messaged, so as to protect you from third party “stalkerware”. In this way, the bots that monitor your movements online cannot know if you are logged in on the messaging app.
This feature is currently in development for prossima beta for iOS, also in the future it should also arrive for Android, Web and desktop on Windows. There are no details on when it might become available: we will keep you informed about it.
