Everything is ready for the Italian release of Crimes of the Future, the latest project by David Cronenberg, which promises strong emotions as usual
Comes to the cinema with David Cronenberg’s Lucky Red Crimes of the future, returning to the big screen after eight years of absence. Despite the time that has passed, however, the interest in this film is very high. Cronenberg is in fact one of the most loved directors by horror and thriller fans, the main author of the body horror subgenre, with a turbulent life that has even inspired a documentary.
The Canadian director made headlines again by presenting his latest controversial work at the Cannes Film Festival. Once again, after The Assassin’s Promise, A History of Violence and A Dangerous Method, David Cronenberg chooses Viggo Mortensen as the protagonist. He is joined by two actresses on the crest of the wave such as Léa Seydoux and Kristen Stewart.
Crimes of the Future: la sinossi
When the human species adapts to a synthetic environment, the body undergoes new transformations and mutations. With his partner Caprice (Léa Seydoux), Saul Tenser (Viggo Mortensen), famous artist and performer, publicly shows the metamorphosis of his organs in avant-garde performances. Timlin (Kristen Stewart), a National Organ Registry investigator, obsessively tracks their movements when a mysterious group is revealed … Their mission: to use Saul’s notoriety to shed light on the next stage of human evolution.
Crimes of the future, che takes its title from its previous 1970 film without being the remake, it marks the director’s return to the body horror genre, already shown in films such as Shivers, Rabid, The Brood and The Fly.
A shocking and extreme, visceral film, in which Cronenberg returns to explore the evolution of man and the planet in relation to technology. An out-of-the-box vision, an unsettling science fiction film that encompasses all the very topical themes of the Canadian author’s filmography.
The release in Italian cinemas, after the various press previews (including also in Rome and Milan), is scheduled for the very hot August 26.
