NVIDIA DLSS 3 generates full frames in real time with artificial intelligence, for the benefit of games and applications limited by GPU and CPU
NVIDIA announced today NVIDIA DLSS 3an AI-powered performance multiplier that ushers in a new era of neural rendering NVIDIA RTX for games and applications.
DLSS 3 is founded on the company’s leadership in the techniques of super resolution accelerated by artificial intelligence and offers exceptional image quality and performance up to four times the performance of classic rendering, as well as the speed of response that defines a complete gaming experience.
Statements from the CEO
The technology was unveiled today during the GeForce Beyond: Special Broadcast al GTC, during which the new ones were also presented GPU GeForce RTX Serie 40 based on the new architecture NVIDIA Ada Lovelace.
DLSS is one of our most important inventions and made real-time ray tracing possible. DLSS 3 is another quantum leap for gamers and creators
he has declared Jensen Huang, founder and CEO from NVIDIA, which then continued.
Our pioneering work in RTX neural rendering has opened up a new universe of possibilities where artificial intelligence plays a central role in creating virtual worlds.
DLSS 3 is already receiving extensive support from the gaming ecosystem, with over 35 games and applications integrating the technology.
Technology
The combination of ray-tracing and technologies AI revolutionized video games by offering simultaneously incredible improvements in image quality and a radical increase in performance – something never seen before in GeForce RTX.
Powered by new 4th Generation Tensor Cores and a new Optical Flow Accelerator on GeForce RTX Series 40 GPUs, NVIDIA DLSS 3 it is the latest iteration of technology Deep Learning Super Sampling – critically acclaimed – and introduces a new feature called Optical Multi Frame Generation.
Optical Multi Frame Generation generates completely new frames, rather than just pixels, ensuring a staggering increase in performance. The new Optical Flow Accelerator incorporated into the NVIDIA Ada Lovelace architecture analyzes two game images in sequence and calculates the data of the carriers from movement for objects and elements that appear in the frame, but which are not modeled by the traditional motion vectors found in the game engine. This dramatically reduces visual anomalies when AI renders elements such as particles, reflections, shadows e lighting.
The pairs of frames a super resolution of the game, together with the motion vectors of the engine and the optical flow, then come inserted in a convolutional neural network which analyzes the data and automatically generates an additional frame for each frame rendered by the game – a first for real-time game rendering.
The combination of the frames generated by the DLSS with those at super-resolution of the DLSS allows the DLSS 3 to reconstruct seven eighths of the pixels displayed with artificial intelligence, increasing the frame rate up to four times compared to absence del DLSS.
Support for over 35 games and applications
The revolutionary power of DLSS 3 is one windfall for developers of games that want to express their artistic vision. The technology is coming to the most popular game engines in the world, such as Unity e Unreal Engine.
DLSS 3 has also received support from many of the leading game developers globally, with over 35 games and applications no they announced il support, among which:
- A Plague Tale: Requiem
- Unity
- Black Myth: Wukong
- Dying Light 2 Stay Human
- Jurassic World Evolution 2
- Microsoft Flight Simulator
- Cyberpunk 2077
DLSS 3 coming October 12th
DLSS 3 is supported by GPU GeForce RTX 40 Series and will debut on 12 October with the availability of GPU GeForce RTX 4090. Further details are available on the official websites, including information on the new ones GPU GeForce RTX Serie 40 and on technology NVIDIA DLSS.
