It’s official, the second season of House of the Dragon has finally entered pre-production, here are some little news and previews
The incredible success of House of the Dragonspin off set 200 years before the events narrated in Game of Throneshas allowed the series to be renewed in a very short time and to conquer, in the first season alone, a Golden Globe as Best Drama Series.
Upon the release of House of the Dragon, millions of fans returned with interest to Westeros, to follow the story of the protagonists, so as to rekindle that spark that seemed lost with the last few seasons of the mother series. Just a few days ago the news that many were waiting for: the second season has entered pre-production. But what do we know as of today about the new installments based on the novels by George R.R. Martin? News about the next season of House of the Dragon is leaking with a dropper, but we have collected it for you.
What will we see in the new season
The events we will see in the next season will be the natural continuation of the first. We will therefore start again from where we left off, without any more time jump. We are now aware of the facts that led to the creation of the two factions, Greens and Blacks, now it’s time to unsheathe the swords and ride the dragons.
Not only, Sara Hess, screenwriter of the series, has already anticipated that in the very first episodes we will see the appearance of two new characters, well impressed in the minds of those who have already read the books. It’s about Blood and Cheese, whose casting seems to have just opened. If these names can make those who have limited themselves to seeing the series smile, the more experienced know that these two new entries will take the level of cruelty of the show to yet unexplored heights. Sara Hess herself has already confessed that viewers will not be disappointed.
House of the Dragon: the news of the actors
Although they are forced to keep a certain confidentiality about what will be shown to us, some of the actors of the series could not help but answer a few questions, posed by fans. This is the case of the Targaryen brothers, Aegon and Aemond, played respectively by Tom Glynn-Carney ed Ewan Mitchell.
The first, on the occasion of the premiere Game of Thrones fan conventionorganized by Warner Bros, found himself answering a few questions. The actor, while emphasizing that he cannot anticipate too much, confessed:
I can’t wait for Aegon to cause even more havoc in Season 2 where he’ll have a lot more meat to get his teeth into.
He later added that it will a very tiring season, which will take him a lot on a physical level, so much so that hard training will be required to stay in shape. Further proof that what we will see will be action-packed. The convention was also an occasion to delve deeper into the character of Aegon, one of the most talked about characters in the series, due to his negative actions. In this regard, Tom Glynn-Carney confessed: “I hope that the public does not judge Aegon too quickly, taking too hasty positions”. Perhaps it will be a clue to make the public understand that in the new episodes we will investigate more about the psychology of this character?
At the fan convention, Aegon II’s Tom Glynn-Carney shared the stage with Jack Gleeson, who played the evil Joffrey in Game of Thrones.
Even Ewan Mitchell, interpreter of Aemond Targaryen, has recently indulged in some advances on the second season of House of the Dragon:
Much of this season sees the two factions of the Targaryen family teetering on a tightrope. All it takes is a push from both sides to start a bloodbath. If season 1 showed Aemond heating up, season 2 will be an all-out war.
House of the Dragon: When will the second season be released?
The first takes will start in March; month in which the first photos from the set will probably begin to circulate. The filming, which will last for months and which will be followed by a long post-production phase, will not allow the public to watch the new season before 2024. We just have to wait.
