In developing this complex and fascinating character, I was inspired by female characters driven by great obsessions. From the protagonist of the drama ‘Käthchen’ by Heinrich von Kleist, to Madeleine from ‘The Woman Who Lived Twice’ by Hitchcock, or even ‘Adèle H.’ by Truffaut, to the female protagonists of Kieslowski’s films
At the center of the story we find Marta; brilliant 40-year-old neurosurgeon. One day, during an important medical conference; she falls madly in love with a Hungarian doctor. From that moment her life changes radically, and a new and powerful fire ignites something in her.
Determined to follow the strong winds of passion; she abandons her promising career as a surgeon in the United States and moves to Budapest to be with the man she loves. But at the appointment, he doesn’t show up. She desperately starts looking for him and when she finally finds him, the man tells her that they have never met before her.
