During a press conference, Andrew Slabin of Warner Bros. Discovery announced Mortal Kombat 12, with release in 2023
After numerous rumors, Mortal Kombat 12 of NetherRealm Studios was finally announced… at a Warner Bros. Discovery press conference. Executive Vice President of Global Investor Strategy Andrew Slabin revealed on his Q4 2022 earnings presentation call: that the release of the highly anticipated Mortal Kombat 12 is set for this year.
Mortal Kombat 12 out in 2023!
NetherRealm boss Ed Boon has repeatedly hinted that the studio’s next project would be Injustice 3 o Mortal Kombat 12. Last December, he also stated that the announcement of the sequel would be made in conjunction with Suicide Squad: Kill Justice League, with ambitious launch plans. It also stated last December that an announcement was “likely” within the next six months, so an E3 2023 appearance is possible.
As if that weren’t enough, Boon has stated that the studio’s next project will be its longest-running title. Given that Mortal Kombat 11 has received roughly a year and a half of support, how the sequel fares remains to be seen.
