All the winners of the Annie Awards 2023, the coveted awards dedicated to the world of animation, have just been revealed. Let’s find out
Il February 25, 2023 the world of animation gathered at Royce Hall in Los Angeles, at the University of California, to discover the winners of the coveted Annie Awards, this year arrived at the 50th edition. The ceremony, finally back live, aims to reward the excellences that have distinguished themselves in the field of animation in 2022.
The Triumph of Pinocchio
It is undeniable that this was the year of Pinocchiowho arrived at the ceremony with nine nominations in his pocket, managing to win in four categories: Best Director, Best Production Design, Best Character Animation and Best Score. Behind him Marcel the Shell, who conquered the category Best Independent Film, Best Screenplay e al Best Dubbing.
He failed to win against these two giants Avatar: The Way of Water (here our review), who still took home the victory in the category Best Visual Effects e Best Animation in a Live-action Film. Also Puss in Boots: The Last Wishwas the winner of two statuettes, for Miglior Storyboarding and the Best Editing.

Now we aim for the Oscar
Needless to deny it, this was Pinocchio’s ceremony. Guillermo del Toro couldn’t hold back his enthusiasm. The director emotionally confessed how much he wanted that award because “It’s the damned most beautiful trophy in the world!”.
We are now waiting to find out who will win between Pinocchio and Marcel the Shell. The next battleground? The Oscar 2023! The two contenders will have to contend for the prize with Red, The monster of the seas and Puss in boots 2 – The last wish. Who will win?
