Netflix is preparing to celebrate the annual celebration of the female universe with a long series of films and TV series starring women who have struggled to assert one’s worth in times or societies where gender inequality was the norm, or female figures who have set records. From aspiring detectives, able to stand up to much more well-known brothers, such as the young Enola Holmes, to women who fought for their rights in environments dominated by male presence, such as the Italian lawyer Lidia Poët.

After the wedding, the young empress has to assert herself not only against her mother-in-law Sofia, a power-hungry sovereign, but also with her brother-in-law Maxi, who wants the throne (and also Sisi). While enemy troops gather on the border of the Habsburg Empire, the Viennese rebel against the emperor. Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story is a prequel to the Bridgerton Is universe focused on Queen Charlotte’s rise to power and fame. The series tells how the young queen’s marriage to King George is the basis of a great love story and a social change thanks to which the world of high society of Bridgerton was born.
Based on the novel by Walter Tevis, The Queen of Chess is both a miniseries and a coming-of-age story that explores the price of brilliance. Growing up in a Kentucky orphanage in the late 1950s, young Beth Harmon (Anya Taylor-Joy) discovers she has an incredible talent for chess as she develops an addiction to the tranquilizers the state gave to children as sedatives. Tormented by her own demons and driven by a mixture of narcotics and obsessions, Beth is transformed into an eccentric figure, extremely skilled and glamorous, determined to overcome the traditional boundaries of the purely male world of chess competitions. The series is directed and written by two-time Academy Award nominee Scott Frank, and executive produced by Frank himself, William Horberg and Allan Scott, who is also the co-creator.
