According to the latest revelations from composer Alan Menken; the lyrics of the songs from the live action, The Little Mermaid, have been changed to be in line with today’s values
New details and previews emerge on the next live action Disney, The little Mermaid. According to what has been leaked on the web in the last few hours; after the cultural changes introduced in the new version, Disney seems to have decided to make the changes to the original song lyrics of the film. A news that has left the fans already inundated with the previous choices made in the film dumbfounded.
Official composer Alan Menken himself kept a soft hand on the burning news, declaring that he had made a choice following the spirit of modern values. Here is his recent statement:
We made some changes to the lyrics of ‘Kiss her’ because people became very sensitive to the idea that Prince Eric would somehow force Ariel. Some revisions also happened in ‘Sad Soul’ regarding lines that could somehow make girls feel like they shouldn’t be talking out of turn, even though Ursula is clearly manipulating Ariel into giving up her voice

The Little Mermaid: everything we know about the new live action Disney
The stories told in this live action of The Little Mermaid, intertwine perfectly with the original plot. Protagonist also in this case; she is sweet Ariel, a mermaid who lives in the depths of the sea with her father King Triton and her sisters. She is driven by the desire to discover more about the world beyond the sea and walk on the surface that she secretly dreams and desires; she makes a secret (and petty) pact with Ursula, the Sea Witch.
What will follow for Arile will be a continuous discovery and a lot of magic… but also suffering.
Scheduled for the big screen next May 24th; sees the singer and actress as the protagonist in the role of Ariel Halle Bailey flanked by Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric. Also present were Noma Dumezweni (Queen Selina); Art Malik (Sir Grimsby). King Triton will instead be played by the Oscar-winning actor, Javier Bardemalong with the two-time Academy Award nominee Melissa McCarthy as Ursula.
Directed by Rob Marshall (Chicago, Mary Poppins Returns) sees the music curated by the award-winning, and aforementioned, Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin), with original lyrics by Howard Ashman and the new curated by Lin-Manuel Miranda.
