A new film, born from an idea by Federico Fellini and Tullio Pinelli, is about to come to life: Naples – New York, directed by Salvatores
When we think of the golden age of Italian cinema, we can’t help but think of the unforgettable Federico Fellini. La dolce vita (1960), 8½ (1963), Amarcord (1973) are just some of his most successful masterpieces. Now, thirty years after his passing, some of his incredible talent will come back to life in Napoli – New Yorkthe new film by Gabriele Salvatorestaken precisely from an unpublished subject by Federico Fellini and Tullio Pinelli. Filming has already begun and will continue for 12 weeks, touching cities such as Naples, Trieste e Riverin addition to the Cinecittà studios. Plot | Naples – New York: the shooting of the film by Gabriele Salvatores is underway
Naples – New York is set in Naples, after World War II. The city is in a state of absolute poverty and the two small Carmine and Celestina, live in a state of total misery and degradation, trying to survive by relying only on each other. One evening they decide to clandestinely embark on a ship bound for New York, with the aim of reaching Celestina’s sister, who emigrated years earlier. It will be the beginning of a great adventure for the two young people, who will be catapulted onto a ship in an instant, among many other Italians, eager to leave their native country, to arrive in a new land, in search of fortune.
Cast and exit
The film will see the participation of a leading figure in the Italian actor scene: Pierfrancesco Favino. The actor will step into the role of a purser; beside him the little ones Dea Lanzaro and Antonio Guerra. The cast is completed with Anna Ammirati, Anna Lucia Pierro Omar Benson Miller, Tomas Arana e Anthony Catania. Naples – New York is produced by Isabella Cocuzza e Arthur Straw for Paco Cinematografica with Rai Cinema, the film will see the contribution of the FVG Film Commission – PromoTurismoFVG.
