The summer of video game lovers has already begun, even though the annual appointment with E3 is missing. After a decent Summer Game Fest 2023 last week, the’Xbox Games Showcase 2023 + Starfield Directwhich has given us a wave of new trailers and titles coming to the console from the big X, including the highly anticipated new chapter of Fable.
Xbox Games Showcase 2023 + Starfield Direct: All Announcements
Fable
The evening started with a bang: Fable is coming back! The trailer shows us a character called Dave who runs into a very small woman a la Grounded (or Honey, I shrunk the boys). A battle ensues between the two that ends with the little woman eating a hamburger sitting on Dave’s glasses. There is no release date yet, but the certainty that it will be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one.
South of Midnight
Compulsion Games – those of Contrast and We Happy Few – presents us with its new project: South of Midnight. The protagonist is a human creature who is looking for a monster drawn on a piece of paper, and meets a huge bard on the banks of a river. There is no release date yet, but again it will be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one.
Star Wars: Outlaws
Xbox Games Showcase 2023 takes us to a Galaxy far, far away with Star Wars Outlaws, which will be discussed more in the course of Ubisoft Forward. The game is in fact developed by the same team of The Division. Players will take on the role of an intergalactic robber called Kay Vess. The game will arrive in 2024.
33 Immortals
33 Immortals is a game by Thunder Lotus, a studio known for developing Spiritfarer, from which it takes its graphic style. It is a game in which we will have to “face the fury of the gods” in a co-op mode that will involve up to 33 players. It will be available in 2024, also on Xbox Game Pass from day one.
Payday 3
Prepare your masks because the highly anticipated third chapter of Payday will arrive on September 21, from day one also on Game Pass.
Persona 3 Reload
Available in early 2024, from day one also on Game Pass, Reload is the remake of the acclaimed Persona 3.
Avowed
Obsidian Entertainment presents at Xbox Games Showcase 2023 in new gameplay trailer of Avowed, a medieval fantasy RPG. The game, very reminiscent of Skyrim, will allow us to use magic and weapons in epic battles. Avowed will arrive in 2024 on PC and Xbox.
Monkey Island arriva su Sea of Thieves
They are Sea of Thieves a Monkey Island themed event is coming, for a timeless crossover. The event will be called The Legend of Monkey Island. Born from the collaboration between Rare and Lucasfilm Games, the event will offer an original story set in the world of Sea of Thieves, with the participation of the iconic pirate Guybrush and other characters from the Monkey Island saga. Additionally, players will be able to customize their appearance, ship and crew with elements inspired by the classic video game. The event will be available from July 20, free, on PC and Xbox for all owners of Sea of Thieves.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024
Players are requested to complete the check-in procedures, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will take off in the new year (and there will also be a crossover that will bring the aircraft from Dune, the film into play)
Hellblade II
The anticipation for the sequel to Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is getting higher and higher, and now we have good news: filming with actress Melina Juergens, who plays the lead character Senua, is over. She announced it herself, also showing a new 6-minute gameplay video. The game will be released in 2024 on PC and Xbox Series X|S, also on Game Pass.
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth
An ironic and funny trailer reveals that Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth will be released in 2024 on Xbox consoles and PC.
Fallout 76
A new setting comes to the critically acclaimed Fallout 76: Atlantic City.
Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess
At the Xbox Games Showacase 2023 Capcom announced Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, a title that seems to take inspiration from Monster Hunter. The gameplay trailer shows some fight scenes against monstrous creatures inspired by Japanese folklore with co-op elements. We don’t have a release date, but we know it will be available from day one on Xbox Game Pass.
Forza Motorsport
There is also time for an adrenaline-pumping new trailer of Forza Motorsportout on October 10, 2023 from day one also on Game Pass.
Persona 5 Tactics
Persona 5 is preparing to launch a new chapter: Persona 5 Tactics. It is a turn-based strategy game with a chibi graphic style, already seen in other spin-offs of the series such as Persona Q and Q2. It will be available from November 17 on PC and Xbox, from day one also Xbox Game Pass.
Starfield
The Starfield trailer takes us to the vast game universe, where we will be part of the Constellation, the last faction of space explorers. The title will offer us the possibility to travel between planets, face enemies and alien creatures, use futuristic weapons and jetpacks, and discover the secrets of the galaxy. Starfield will be released on September 6 on PC and Xbox Series X|S, from day one on Xbox Game Pass.
Downstream
Downstream is a brand new action-puzzle game with, so the trailer puts it, “meditative vibes”. It will arrive on Xbox Series X|S and PC this fall, from day one also on Game Pass.
Still Wakes the Deep
Coming early 2024, Still Wakes the Deep presents itself as an atmospheric horror set on a platform in the middle of the ocean. It will be available from day one on Xbox Game Pass.
Dungeons of Hinterberg
Dungeons of Hinterberg is an action-adventure RPG that includes fighting monsters, solving puzzles, using magic, and building relationships, all set in the cozy and colorful alpine village of Hinterberg. It will arrive on Xbox Series X|S in 2024 and will be included in the Game Pass catalog.
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty
Cyberpunk 2077 is enriched with a new expansion, Phantom Liberty. To present us the gameplay trailer during the Xbox Games Showcase 2023 was Keanu Reeves, who plays the character of Johnny Silverhand in the game. The actor introduced the plot of this spy thriller, in which we will have to face dangerous enemies and team up with a secret agent played by Idris Elba, who joins the cast of voice actors. Protagonist V will have to use all his skills and cyberware to accomplish his mission. Phantom Liberty will be available from September 26, 2023 on PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.
Cities Skylines 2
Cities Skylines II will be released on October 24, from day one also on Game Pass.
Metaphor Re Fantasy
Metaphor Re Fantasy is the new game from Studio Zero of Atlus, the studio that gave birth to the famous Persona series and which boasts among its members the director and composer of the soundtrack of chapters 3, 4 and 5. The game, which was previously announced as “Project Re Fantasy”, it is proposed as “a new fantasy RPG. It will be released in 2024 on Xbox Series X|S and PC.
Towerborne
Directly from Stoic Games, already creators of The Banner Saga, comes Towerborne, or rather it will come given that the release is scheduled for 2024 (from day one also on Game Pass). It’s a co-op adventure with a decidedly cartoonish world. It will be available on PC and Xbos Series X|S.
Clockwork Revolution
Clockwork Revolution is a first-person RPG with unashamedly steampunk elements (which never hurts). After stumbling upon an incredible invention that allows us to travel to the past, we will discover that the city we call home, the bustling metropolis Avalon, was carefully created through the alteration of historical events. By traveling back to key moments, our interactions and choices will have a butterfly effect on the world of Avalon. We currently do not have a release date.
Finally, last but not least, the Xbox Game Showcase 2023 revealed a new one black carbon version of Xbox Series S. It will be available from September 1, 2023 and will have a capacity of 1TB (practically double the storage space of the white Series S).
