Talk to Me, the horror revelation of this film season in theaters from September 28th, will be forbidden to children under 18
The ax of censorship falls on the Australian horror film A24 Talk to Me, which receives a ban on children under 18 due to the violence shown in an explicit and insistent manner. In fact, despite the enormous global success, which has meant that a sequel has already been announced, only adults will be able to see it in Italian cinemas.
The horror film phenomenon of the year Talk To Me, directed by the twins Danny and Michael Philippou, continues to be talked about. Fresh from his excellent first weekend in theaters in Italy in 250 copies thanks to Midnight Factorywas only currently banned for minors under 18 years of age by the Commission for the classification of cinematographic works appointed by the General Directorate of Cinema and Audiovisual of the Ministry of Culture.
Talk to Me has been banned for children under 18
The strong emotions and disturbing scenes, combined with a distressing and disturbing atmosphere which characterize the film have evidently impressed the Commission to the point of deeming it unsuitable for minors. The motivation is as follows:
violence is shown explicitly and insistent in numerous scenes and can be dangerous for individuals; furthermore, being shown and contextualised within a group of friends who are having fun in the face of the danger that some of them are in, this violence can generate emulation and appear desirable.
Hence the decision to lift the ban on viewing for adults. Plaion Pictureswhich distributes the film in Italy through its horror label Midnight Factory, was surprised to learn of the new request for classification and has announced that it intends to appeal. Marketing director Frida Romano comments:
We are sorry that the younger audience is thus denied the possibility, through a horror entertainment film, of enjoying important themes and growth, which are instead aimed specifically at teenagers.
