CD Projekt RED’s latest effort, Cyberpunk 2077, has reached an incredible milestone in terms of copies sold. Let’s find out the details together
After a quiet start, Cyberpunk 2077 celebrates a very important goal, reaching the quota of well 25 million copies sold in total. Driven above all by the publication of update 2.0, the anime and also the DLC Phantom Liberty, the FPS title from CD Projekt RED, with Keanu Reeves as the protagonist, managed to (almost) double its initial sales, around 13 million copies sold. This despite the controversies that have targeted the game since day one due to its poor performance on old-gen consoles. It’s all a thing of the past now and thanks to continuous updates, the game has regained its popularity.
Cyberpunk 2077: 25 million copies sold!
The finish line is incredible; especially when in the month of September 2022 alone, Cyberpunk 2077 had totaled 20 million copies sold. Most likely the greatest help was given by the anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners on Netflix. The title has achieved considerable success among fans of the universe created by CD Projekt RED, but, for now, a second season is not yet planned. Cyberpunk 2077 is currently available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and PC. Instead, the 2.0 update and the DLC are exclusive to the next-gen consoles. Furthermore, it seems that the Polish software house has already started production of the sequel, currently known by its code name Project Orionusing the graphics engine Unreal Engine 5, for which a release window is not yet known.
