Sony recently updated an old patent that may reveal a very special feature of the PSVR2 in advance
A few days ago Sony announced the PSVR2, its new virtual reality headset which will be available for PS5. We don’t know much about this new device at the moment, but it sure will boast a large number of additional functions compared to its previous version.
At the moment Sony has only revealed some of the new features of its new headset, but perhaps we may have discovered another. In fact, the company has recently updated its old patent which could unveil a very particular feature of the PSVR2 in advance.
Will PSVR2 allow you to scan objects?
Last summer Sony filed a patent for a new technology that would allow gamers to scan objects and then recreate them in 3D in a video game. Users will then be able to to interact with these scans within some video games and even assign them various properties.
This patent did not cause much sensation when it was first filed, but the fact that it did updated near the announcement of the PSVR2 has generated numerous speculations among gamers. In fact, such a function would seem to be more than suitable for a virtual reality viewer and would offer developers many new creative ideas. We would like to remind you, however, that patents of this type are filed very often by companies and very often they end up never seeing sunlight.
For the moment we do not yet know a precise release period of PSVR2, but there will probably be some news about it in the coming months.
