Acer Swift 16: Hands On of the student laptop

Acer Swift 16: Hands On of the student laptop. In this article, our first impressions of this new laptop

Acer at CES 2023 unveiled the new range of laptops of the Swift series, in this article we told you about the 14″ model, today, we will tell you about the 16″ big brother.

Acer Swift 16 represents a laptop that, with an important display size, offers the top that a student could want if, for work or not, he needs a wide visibility on the screen, despite having a low weight, we see it in detail in the complete article.

We specify that it is a Hands-On, i.e. a preview test, the product in question is not yet in its definitive version, which is why it has not entered the commercial production lines, take these first impressions precisely as such, not being able to conduct in-depth specific tests. But now, the time has come to get to the heart of the article.

Design and Construction | Acer Swift 16

As already stated in previous articles, the Acer Swift series needs no introduction. And this model with a minimal and elegant design represents the evolution of the previous series. At the bottom, the air exhaust vents, with a structure a double fan Acer TwinAir, and double D6 copper heat pipe. It has a design with classic and decidedly pleasant lines. Again we have models of the processor family Intel Core HX up to 13th generation to support this machine. The laptop is made of aluminum.

Here the weight increases, but does not exceed 1.7kg. The Touchpad is made with proprietary OceanGlass technology, and the keyboard is backlit. The build quality is great.

The keyboard is recessed into the structure, the keys are spaced correctly and ensure fast typing with a short stroke, they are obviously membrane. As far as the Touchpad is concerned, the feedback is decidedly good, and it easily captures the gestures.

Technical specifications | Acer Swift 16

The Display panel has an optimal performance, even against the light, we have a 3.2K resolution with a refresh rate of ben 120Hz. The edges are elegant and usual, in fact we find a 90% screen-body ratio, with side frames of 4.15mm. Finally, to continue, we find 16GB of LPDDR5 type ram for the ram sector, also on board a 1TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD. WiFi 6E connectivity and multiple ports such as USB-C, HDMI 2.1 and, microSD reader.

At first glance, the laptop seems to handle the required stresses well with a good performance/consumption ratio, but obviously, these are simply impressions of first use. However, the performance is really lightning fast in daily activities and with the main Office software. The audio given by the integrated speakers is average.
