Amazon lashed out at social media review scammers, suing fake review brokers in over 10,000 Facebook groups

Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) ha legal action started today against the administrators of more than 10,000 Facebook groups attempting to orchestrate fake Amazon reviews in exchange for money or free products. The legal action taken today is the most recent step Amazon has taken to stop scammers attempting to post fake reviews on Amazon stores. Over the past year, Amazon’s lawsuit has shut down several major review brokers who have targeted customers in the US, UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain.
However, the harmful activity of “fake reviews brokerage”Remains a problem for the whole sector and civil litigation is only one step. Permanently eliminating fake reviews in the retail, travel and other industries will require greater public-private collaboration, including affected companies, social media sites and law enforcement, all of which are committed to the goal of greater consumer protection.
