AMD announced the new Ryzen 7 5800X3D, a processor that promises record performance in the gaming sector. It is the first Ryzen chip with the technology AMD 3D V-Cache™ and should guarantee the 15% performance more than the competition (and even the best AMD CPUs on the market to date). The processor arrives on the market on April 20 at a price of 449 dollars (at the moment the Italian price in euros is not available).
AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D promises record performance
Technology 3D V-Cache consists of a memory layer SHAME above the die, to further expand the L3 cache on the chip. This leads Ryzen 7 5800X3D to have more cache than any other gaming CPU proposed by AMD (even the Ryzen 9 with 16 physical cores).
This chip da 8 core and 16 Thread has 96MB of cache (64MB on the die plus 32MB of the ‘base’ Ryzen 7 5800X). It has a base clock di 3,4 GHz, which can go up to 4,5 GHz in boost. The TPD remains a 105 Watt.
According to AMD this architecture pays off Ryzen 7 5800X3D the fastest gaming CPU on the market. According to the company it should beat even the very powerful Intel Core i9-12900K, at least in some scenarios. In fact, while it draws in games like Watch Dogs Legion and Gear 5, it has a slight edge in Far Cry 6, Shadow of the Tomb Rider, and Final Fantasy XIV.
But AMD proved the chip’s power by comparing it to one of its top-of-the-line gaming CPUs. In fact, he put her head to head with AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, reaching an average of + 15% in terms of 1080p performance. AMD achieved these results with a Ryzen 7 series card, which makes it clear that the architecture change is really significant.
Intel will want to retort the enhanced Core i9-12900KSwhich pushes the cores up to 5,5GHztrying to catch up. But it remains to be seen whether she will manage to do so, especially in the price range that AMD has carved out.
In addition to this exciting chip, AMD has announced that it is extending support for the series Ryzen 5000 on AMD 300 chipsets: AMD X370, B350 and A320. In what AMD calls a “smooth transition to performance from Zen 3”. In short, the news in the PC hardware world are many in this period, we will keep you informed.
