AMD’s announcements at CES 2023: between new processors and AI

Las Vegas – On the occasion of CES 2023 in Las Vegasthe international consumer electronics fair, AMD unveiled on stage the latest news coming from the company. To be present on stage was just the AMD CEO Lisa Su who underscored the importance of high-performance adaptive computing in finding solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges. Together with partner companies such as Lenovo, Microsoft, HP and many more, AMD shared news and upcoming products including new processors, graphics cards and more. Let’s find out everything!

Among the innovations announced in the conference, which you can see above, were announced:

New AMD Ryzen 7000 series mobile processors

AMD is further expanding the range of options for Socket AM5 users with the New Ryzen 7000X3D Desktop Processors and Ryzen 7000 Series 65W Desktop Processors. To these is also added a new range of processors for mobile AMD Ryzen serie 7045HX, which deliver, on average, over 50% increased performance across a wide range of applications for gamers and creators. AMD is also introducing the Ryzen 7040 Series Mobile Processors, which feature the first dedicated AI hardware in an x86 processor. Going into detail:

  • AMD Radeon RX 7000 per Laptop: The AMD Radeon RX 7000 graphics card designed for laptops is based on the AMD RDNA 3 architecture and is designed to offer exceptional energy efficiency to gaming or creative laptops to take full advantage of the full potential of the next generation
  • AMD Ryzen 7000 Series X3D: This desktop processor is AMD’s solution to bring the potential of 3D V-Cache technology to the PC with an X3D processor. The processor mounts up to 144MB of cache, 16 cores and 32 threads to guarantee the full potential of the Ryzen 7000 series without compromise. These new Ryzen 7000X3D are the fastest gaming processors in the world. With up to 14% faster performance than the previous generation. AMD Ryzen 7000 series processors with 3D V-Cache technology will be available for Socket AM5 starting February 2023.
  • AMD Ryzen 7000 Series 65W: a new desktop processor built on the Zen 4 architecture and includes 65W TDP. This new lineup of Ryzen 7000-series processors is optimized for efficiency and performance
  • AMD Ryzen 7045HX Series: This mobile processor is powered by 16 Zen 4 cores and 32 threds. It results in an exceptional ability to process apps and functions in the most efficient system ever built on a mobile processor supported by DDR5 memory. The new AMD Ryzen 7045HX Series Mobile Processors deliver up to 18% faster single-threaded performance and up to 78% faster multithreaded performance compared to the 6900HX. Systems with Ryzen 7045HX series processors will be available from Alienware, ASUS, Lenovo and MSI starting February 2023
  • AMD Ryzen 7040 Series: another Zen 4 mobile processor with 8 cores, integrated in the AMD RDNA 3 architecture and designed to offer performance equal to those of ultrathin laptops with all the versatility of the mobile.

AMD and artificial intelligences

On the stage of CES 2023, Lisa Su told about AMD’s recent developments on AI including an interesting AI accelerator. It’s about AMD Alveo V70 AI Accelerator which will ensure performance and energy efficiency for more AI workloads. Among the innovations, AMD has created the first integrated data center CPU and GPU, AMD Instinct MI300. It is a design designed to deliver premium performance leveraging a revolutionary 3D chiplet design.

AMD e salute

The large processing capabilities of AMD products and AI technology are used in the medical field and enable faster diagnosis and drug discoveries and better patient care. At CES, AMD announced the libraries AMD Vitis Medical Imaging to bring premium medical imaging products to market faster by reducing development time.

AMD brings the space to CES 2023

AMD’s adaptive computing solutions help satellites and spacecraft process data and leverage pervasive artificial intelligence to derive insights. During the keynote, CEO Su announced how AMD FPGAs and adaptive SoCs are doing helping to shape the future of space explorationfueling recent space missions, from Mars Curiosity a Perseverance and also to Artemis lunar mission recently launched.
