Anonymous hits Nestlé, which has remained Russia

The hacker collective Anonymous allegedly attacked the multinational Nestlé, guilty of not having suspended activities in Russia. The hackers had given a 48-hour ultimatum to Western companies to leave Russia, which was hacked after the invasion of Ukraine. But Nestlé explained that it was not profiting from Russian operations and that it is actively helping Ukraine.

Anonymous hits Nestlé for not leaving Russia

Hacking collective Anonymous reportedly released 10GB of Nestlé data. Company emails, passwords, customer details of the Swiss multinational, all finished online. The fault attributed by Anonymous is that of not having abandoned Russia.

In fact, two days ago the hackers had launched an ultimatum. All the companies that continued to operate in Russia would become targets of hackers, who attacked several Russian national companies in this month of cyber war against Berlin.

Nestlé however had explained that “We do not make profits from our remaining businesses” in Russia. Underlining that “The fact that we, like other food companies, we provide the population with important food it does not simply mean that we continue as before ”.

Furthermore, the multinational had explained that “We are doing everything possible in Ukraine and neighboring countries to help alleviate this humanitarian catastrophe. We are still one of the few active food companies in Ukraine and sometimes we even manage to distribute food in Kharkiv “.

Attacking a multinational food company could be seen as a misstep by hackers. Who since the beginning of the conflict have explained that they are not at war with the Russian population but with Putin and the Kremlin. The collective, however, is made up of many volunteers who work privately or in small teams, so analysts assume that there may be differences on the objectives to be attacked. Especially now that the sights are also extended to European and American multinationals that continue to work in Russia.
