Apex Legends: endings postponed due to (passive) use of cheats

Dick Dastardly ruins the race for everyone: the Apex Legends finals have been postponed due to the use of cheats by players

The tournament Apex Legends Global Seriesorganized in 2019 based on the battle royale of Respawn Entertainmentsuffered an abrupt postponement of the finals due to use of hack by some players, leading fans to rail against it Electronic Arts for the anti-cheat technology not exactly efficient used in the game. With a prize pool of three million dollars and over 60 countries and regions participating, the tournament is the largest ever. Last weekend, however, players Noyan Ozkose (aka Born) e Philip Lecturer (ImperialHal) had their accounts hacked. In a bizarre twist, though, the hack gave Genburten and ImperialHal gods unsolicited benefits.

Apex Legends tournament finals: reverse cheats?

In the case of Genburten, during the finals he noticed the use of a wallhack, or a cheat that makes the walls of Apex Legends transparent and, consequently, the opponents visible. The player repeated “They’re hacking me” before leaving the match because “that’s what cheating is like.” For his part, ImperialHal found himself a aimbot in his hands, thus giving him millimetric precision with every shot fired. “I’m cheating,” he repeated to the team, who asked him to leave the game. “I have an aimbot now. I literally have an aimbot. What if I don’t shoot?” Unlike Genburten, however, ImperialHal continued to play. The person responsible is still unknown, although hackers R4ndom and Destroyer2009 are the most popular names. L’Anti-Cheat Police Department encouraged players to “immediately take steps to protect personal information.” The foreign press contacted EA and Respawn Entertainment for clarification.
