Apple would be considering a new flagship iPhone to be added to the Pro and Pro Max models: iPhone 16 Ultra. The device shouldn’t debut before 2024, according to rumors.
Apple considers launching iPhone 16 Ultra, alongside Pro and Pro Max
The news comes from the analyst Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, which had already nominated a smartphone in the “Ultra” version for Apple. In an edition of September 2022 of his weekly “Power On” newsletter, Gurman said there was “potential” for an iPhone 15 Ultra to replace the iPhone 15 Pro Max this year.
But in the latest issue of the newsletter, the analyst suggests that Apple may instead release the Ultra as new higher-end and more expensive model, next to the Pro and Pro Max. But it shouldn’t arrive until next year with the iPhone 16 version.
“But instead of renaming the Pro Max ‘the Ultra’, Apple could add an even higher-end iPhone on top of both Pro models,” Gurman explains. “Internally, the company has been discussing doing just that, potentially in time for iPhone release in 2024“.
At the moment, there is no reliable information on how the new high-end model would differ from the Pro and Pro Max. Gurman speculated that the device could feature further improvements in the camerathe strong point of the Pro models. But perhaps Apple would be working even to a faster chipa bigger display and perhaps a doorless design. Neither Lightning nor USB-C, all through MagSafe.
As for the price, there is no official news. But Gurman expects a higher price than the iPhone Pro Max. So an Ultra device, really in everything.
