According to the Santa Clara County Fire Department, the report shows that there was a fire alarm and a “hazmat” response to Apple headquarters shortly after lunchtime. Apple Park evacuated: that’s what happened
After finding a suspicious plastic bag containing a White powderthe Apple Park of Cupertino was evacuated immediately. The rescuers then put on some protective suits (hazmat) to better control the mysterious substance. Shortly after sounding the alarm and evacuating the building, the emergency personnel determined that the situation was now under control.
They then gave the employees permission to re-enter the building, to continue their activities. However, at the moment, we still don’t know what that substance was contained in the plastic bag. The Cupertino company told its employees that “the authorities concluded that there was no presence of hazardous materials.”
This is what The Verge reported, which received the email sent by Apple to its employees later in the day. The email also states that operations on campus are back to normal and that “all sections are open”.
Apple did not respond immediately to a request for comment on what happened or on the nature of the famous substance found inside the building. So we just have to wait.
