James Cameron’s intention is to bring Avatar 3 to the big screen in 2025, if post-production work follows the expected schedule
James Cameron spoke about the third chapter of Avatar and confirmed what, according to rumors, was already his intention, that is, the idea of bring the film to cinemas for December 2025. The director also explained about be engaged in two frenetic years of post-production at the moment therefore there can be no hope of seeing the film in theaters before Christmas 2025. Furthermore, Cameron will take New Zealand citizenship starting from 2024, so he still doesn’t want to give up his plan to shoot films indefinitely in New Zealand.
The postponement of Avatar 3 and why there are two years of post-production
Producer Jon Landau also spoke about the project relating to Avatar 3, explaining the reason why the film slipped by a year from being scheduled for 2024 to 2025 and the reason is quality. There is the intention not to do anything that is not of quality. We follow the philosophy of making everything perfect. Luckily the franchise is under the control of Lightstorm itself, so there are no studios or executives pushing to achieve certain results in a short time. It is, therefore, Lightstorm itself that chooses the collaborations to make, the agreements and with what timing. Furthermore, with the involvement of Disney Gamesthere is openness to new inputs.
It has been foretold that in the third film we will discover very different Na’vi. These are real ones diversity in beliefs which will be shown in films and also in games. It is a metaphor of what is on Earth and with the intention of making people understand the true meaning of the expression Na’vi “Oel ngati kameie” [Io ti vedo]. Which doesn’t mean “I see you physically”. Instead, it means: “I see who you are and I accept you for who you are”. But this can only be understood if there are real differences. In the films we will discover that, just as not all men are bad, not all Na’vi are good.
