These days, the live action adaptation of Avatar – The Legend of Aang has captured the attention of fans, ranking first among the most watched series on Netflix. However, this is just the beginning of an era full of content for fans of the universe created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. The original work, composed of the main series Avatar – The Legend of Aang (2005-2008) and Avatar – The Legend of Korra (2012-2014), has won millions of fans around the world. In addition to television series, they have been made comics, books, video games and even a feature film. The birth of Avatar Studios, announced in February 2021 by DiMartino and Konietzko, marks a new chapter in the Avatar universe. This internal division of Nickelodeon is dedicated exclusively to the production of films and TV series set in the fictional universe of Legends of Aang and Korra.
Avatar – The Legend of Aang: upcoming projects
The next few years will be characterized by a series of film e TV series which will further deepen and enrich the Avatar universe. The first film produced by Avatar Studios it will be an animated adventure featuring adult Aang and Katara, along with Sokka, Toph and Zuko. The film, titled “Hidden Kingdom”promises epic emotions and adventures and will arrive in theaters on October 10, 2025. In the same year, Paramount+ will feature a new animated series focusing on Aang and Korra’s successor, an earthbender set 100 years after the events of Korra. The protagonist, still unknown, will continue the legendary cycle of the Avatars.
One of the most anticipated projects is the film dedicated to Zuko, one of the most beloved characters of the series. In 2026, this film will explore his story and path to redemption, offering a more in-depth look at the exiled prince. In 2027, the big screen will welcome another epic adventure of the new Avatar, continuing to explore the rich Avatar universe.
