Azerion, a digital media platform, announced on October 19th with the launch of ‘The Smurfs: Let’s Clean the Ocean’, a game developed in collaboration with IMPS / Lafig. THEThe launch of the game coincides with the launch of a joint campaign by Azerion, NL Cares and the Surfrider Foundation with the aim of making children aware of the problem of marine pollution, and of the solutions to be taken.
With The Smurfs, cleaning the oceans becomes a game
The aim of the project is to transform the cleaning of the oceans into a game, indeed into a video game, which has the very nice little blue men as protagonists.
In ‘The Smurfs: Let’s Clean the Ocean’, players of all ages get rewards based on the amount of trash removed from the ocean.
Since 2019, to safeguard marine life, the Smurfs have been collaborating with the European Union (EU) and the United Nations (UN) to sensitize the inhabitants of the planet to actively contribute to the cleaning of beaches and river banks, through the #EUBeachCleanup campaign.
“It’s really an honor for us to have developed a game featuring the Smurfs,” ha affermato Erol Erturk, Executive VP Games & Strategic Partnerships di Azerion. “Everyone knows that the Smurfs are respectful creatures. It doesn’t matter where you come from or how old you are, everyone grew up with the Smurfs and knows how much they care about nature. That’s why the Smurfs are ambassadors of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and have been chosen as characters in a game that aims to raise awareness of this huge global problem. “
“Since the beginning of the series, the Smurfs have always been a symbol of solidarity, courage, friendship and respect for nature. These values are universal. It is only natural, therefore, that the Smurfs are the stars of a game that raises awareness about cleaning the oceans, ” says Véronique Culliford, President and Founder of IMPS, and daughter of “Peyo”, the creator of Smurfs.
Let’s dive into ‘The Smurfs: Let’s clean the ocean’ …
