Back to Black: the first images
The first images from the set have already circulated. Photos show Marisa Abela as Amyin the company of Eddie Marsan as Father Mitch. The two are located in the Soho district of London, near the jazz club Ronnie Scott’swhere the singer used to perform during the first years of her career.
In the image we see Marisa Abela showing off the unforgettable look that made the jazz singer an icon. In fact, we can see her unmistakable hairstyle, her marked eye makeup and the large earrings that Amy often sported. But it is not only the style that attracts attention, but the sad and melancholic gaze of the actress, which is so reminiscent of that of the deceased artist.
What should we expect?
Despite the tragic fate, Back to Black is not meant to be a film based on the artist’s dark side and frailties. The film, on the contrary, wants to pay homage to Amy, staging her journey to stardom. It will be a journey that will start from the early 80s, until the achievement of fame. An incredible memory of a tormented woman, but of extraordinary talent and sensitivity.
Back to Black is also the first film about the singer which was supported by the artist’s family. Amy’s father allegedly asked for an authentic portrayal of her daughter that shows the audience how funny, brilliant, charming, as well as awful, she is.
The direction of the film is entrusted to Sam Taylor-Johnsonfamous for having also directed Fifty Shades of Gray. Taylor-Johnson has confessed to being very attached to the singer. These are her words:
I feel thrilled and honored to have the opportunity to bring Winehouse’s wonderfully unique and tragic story to the cinema, accompanied by the most important part of her legacy: music. I am fully aware of the responsibility. With my writing collaborator, Matt Greenhalgh, I will create a film that we will all love and cherish forever. Just like we do with Amy.
An excellent premise for those who are anxiously awaiting this film. We just have to wait for the release date, not yet communicated. When it is announced, we at Tuttotek will be here to announce it to you!
