The story is set in Barbie Land, a perfect place, where to live it is necessary to be just as perfect. The city is inhabited by multiple versions of Barbie e Ken, but their life here is not always easy, especially if you are going through a deep existential crisis. Barbie is in fact expelled from this idyllic city, precisely because of her appearance, which is not impeccable. She will then decide to leave for the human world, in search of true happiness.

As already announced, to fill the role of Barbie we’ll see Margot Robbie. The actress will be accompanied by Ken, who will have the face of Ryan Gosling. By their side America Ferrera, Will Ferrell, Ariana Greenblatt, Simu Liu, Issa Rae, Jamie Demetriou, Connor Swindells, Michael Cera, Ncuti Gatwa e Kate McKinnon. They add to them Rhea Perlman, Ana Cruz Kayne, Hari Nef, Alexandra Shipp, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Scott Evans, Sharon Rooney, Nicola Coughlan, Ritu Arya e Dua Lipain her acting debut.
The film is directed by Greta Gerwig, former screenwriter and director of films such as Lady Bird (2017) and Little Women (2019). Gerwig will also take care of the screenplay, together with her partner Noah Baumbach, winner of an Annie Award in 2010, for Fantastic Mr. Fox. The film Barbie was born from the first collaboration between Mattel Movies e Warner Bros.

Thanks to this trailer we finally have the opportunity to learn more about the world of Barbie, her ambitions, her colors and many of the nice characters who inhabit it. In fact, in the video we don’t only see the two main characters, but also many other Barbies and Kens. In addition to the trailer, Warner Bros has also released some nice posters, which portray some of the characters and which allow us to understand that, in addition to having more Barbies and Kens, we will also have a narrator (Helen Mirren) and human beings (America Ferrera and Ariana Greenblatt). The film will arrive on July 20th in Italian cinemas.
