Despite l’hype high that the title carried with it (as always happens for every chapter of the famous first person shooter series), the initial reception by the users does not seem to be the best, quite the contrary. Particularly, on Steam it seems that Battlefield 2042 has received so far over 26,000 negative reviews, becoming one of the worst rated games of all 2021 on the Valve platform. Battlefield 2042: why so many negative reviews?
To better understand what such a number means, you should know that currently, out of 35 904 total reviews, only 26% are positive, with “Mostly negative” as an overall rating (visible as usual on the right side of the Steam page). Already now, just 3 days after launch, Battlefield 2042 is one of the games most rated on Steam of this year: The fact that the reviews are mainly negative is not a good sign, but in fact probably indicates a discontent of the community against one to several aspects of the game.
In the past, the title had already been talked about, for some design choices (specifically, that of removing the classes in favor of Specialists) that were not appreciated by the community. For what concern judgment of the critics, the game is getting treatment for sure improve, visible on vote aggregator sites such as Metacritic.
