Willem Dafoe joins the cast of Beetlejuice 2, sequel to Tim Burton’s cult film, who will also return to direct the second chapter
The cast of Beetlejuice 2, the long-awaited sequel to Tim Burton’s horror comedy from the late 1980s, is increasingly taking shape. Burton will be back in the control room to direct, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter, too Willem Dafoe.
The actor is expected to play a police officer in the afterlife, yet another role in a particularly busy schedule. After taking part in Spider-Man: No Way Home e The Northman last year, Willem Dafoe will appear in several upcoming projects, including Asteroid City by Wes Anderson, Nosferatu by Robert Eggers, Poor Things ed AND di Yorgos Lanthimos.

Dafoe joins an already well-assorted cast, which can count on the presence of actors who had already taken part in the original 1988 film, namely Michael Keaton, Catherine O’Hara and Winona Ryder; but also new faces, such as Jenna Ortega e Monica Bellucci.
Monica Bellucci, who in recent months has been at the center of gossip regarding a possible relationship with Tim Burton, will play the wife of the protagonist, staged by Michael Keaton. Jenna Ortega, on the other hand, who made waves with her performance on Wednesday and brought Burton back into the spotlight, will appear in Beetlejuice 2 in an as yet undisclosed role. Speaking of Wednesday, the script for Beetlejuice 2 was made by Al Gough e Miles Millarauthors of the popular series Netflix.
Warner Bros. has announced that Beetlejuice 2, produced by Burton and Plan B’s Brad Pittwill hit US theaters on September 6, 2024. We’ll see if the date will be confirmed or will be postponed like many other projects due to the writers’ strike that has been decimating American productions in the last period. We will update you!
