Ben Stiller e Colin Farrell they will both be protagonists in the new film by Andrew Haigh, Belly of the Beast. Published in 1981, the novel written by Jack Henry Abbott collects the letters that Abbott wrote to the journalist Norman Mailer while he was in prison. Once granted parole, Abbott struggled to readjust to life outside prison and went on to commit a crime within weeks of being released. According to some rumors, Ben Stiller will play Mailer, while Colin Farrell will play Abbott. The screenplay was written by Haigh and Alexis Jolly.
Belly of the Beast: what will the film be about?
The film will be about Mailer, one iconic writer, in his fifties, at the peak of his career. In 1977, Mailer began a correspondence with the brilliant, self-taught prisoner Jack Henry Abbot, taking him under his wing, helping him get parole and sign a book contract. However, when Jack arrives in New York, Mailer is overwhelmed by the sadness and squalor of Jack’s life and fails to keep his promises of help. Unprepared for the spotlight, Jack cracks under all the pressure.
For what concern Regista Andrew Haighin 2009 he made his directorial debut with the film Greek Petegaining international recognition with Weekend in 2011. Subsequently, he directed 45 Years in 2015 and Charley Thompson in 2017. His most recent film work is titled All of Us Strangers. It is inspired by novel “Strangers” from 1987 by Taichi Yamada. The film features the participation of Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal, and will be screened in Italian cinemas starting in February. AND Belly of the Beast When will the film come out?
