Stefan Ljungqvist, the director of the development team of Biomutant, revealed in an interview how the duration of the title is strongly influenced by the approach of the players
Stefan Ljungqvist, the head of the development team at Experiment 101, is back to talk about their latest effort: the RPG Open World Biomutant (which will be available from 25 May on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC) and, in particular, explained how the duration of the title is strongly influenced by the type of approach that the player will choose to adopt.
Biomutant: How the player’s approach affects the duration
According to Ljungqvist, should the player choose to ignore all side quests and never dwell on the exploration of the environments, the duration of Biomutant would not be greater than 15 ore. On the contrary, for those who decide to dedicate time exploration of secondary content, the same title could also reach the 65 ore of duration. The basic idea would therefore seem to be that of reward the most curious players, eager to discover all the content put into the game by the developers.
Speaking of problems of duration, the realization of Biomutant was much longer than initially expected: the title was announced by Experiment 101 in 2017 and, for the then newborn software house, represented the first try to develop a video game. As the development team is rather small, the workmanship of the title has taken place prolonged unexpectedly and, although this was expected to be ready for 2018, they were only able to complete it in 2020.
