BMW presented the renewed versions of the models of the Serie 3 of the brand on the sedan variants (Sedan) e station wagon (Touring). According to the German carmaker, the changes “further underline the sporting capabilities for which the BMW 3 Series Sedan and BMW 3 Series Touring are famous.”
The front grille has been slightly modified, but stands out above all the “double kidney” shape“, Also featured on the recently launched BMW iX. The models have new air intakes and a redesigned frame to accommodate the LED lights, making the look more aggressive and modern.
At the rear, the appearance of the new BMW 3 Series has undergone few changes, but they were enough to give the models a sportier look, mainly through upgrading the taillights. The tailpipes of the exhaust system now they measure 90 or 100 millimeters in diameter, depending on the engine variant.
BMW 3 Series, Sedan and Touring do not change the engines
Series 3 is available with motors TwinPower Turbo and versions with electrified Plug-in Hybrid and 48-volt Mild Hybrid propulsion technology. There are three Plug-in Hybrid versions to choose from for the 3 Series Sedan and four for the 3 Series Touring. For both models, four petrol and four diesel engines with four or six cylinders are available. Part of this offering is a four-cylinder engine with an exhaust manifold integrated into the cylinder head, as well as an improved turbo system to optimize power delivery. There are also the two models Performance from BMW M GmbH with very sporty characteristics.
New is the M Sport package, which includes extended M High-gloss Shadowline trims, M Shadowline lights and an M Sport brake system with red calipers. Retrofit items from the BMW M Performance Parts range offer distinctive options to further accentuate the dynamic character of the new BMW 3 Series Sedan and Touring.
The color range has also grown: it now includes Skyscraper Gray metallic and M Brooklyn Gray metallic as part of the M Sport package. BMW Individual special paints Frozen Pure Gray Metallic and Frozen Tanzanite Blue Metallic have also been added to the range.
Internal updates
The interior of the new BMW 3 Series has also received a great update. The main novelty is the giant screen, called BMW Curved Display. It consists of a 12.3-inch cluster behind the wheel coupled with a 14.9-inch high-resolution digital hub. It allows you to reduce the number of physical buttons, as it works with both touch and gesture or voice, thanks to the BMW 8 operating system. The automatic air conditioning now has three-zone regulation.
Also available My BMW App which acts as a digital interface between driver and car. This also plays a role in controlling the high voltage battery charging process in Plug-in Hybrid models. In the 3 Series Sedan and 3 Series Touring, BMW ID can be used for a personalized user experience and the integration between the smartphone and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. At the same time, BMW ConnectedDrive Upgrades provides automatic updates with the latest software. These include new advanced vehicle functions services.
Other additions to the standard specification include uno rearview mirror with automatic dimming, the extended stowage package and the Park Distance Control (PDC) with sensors in the front and rear. All models are now also equipped with BMW Live Cockpit Plus, including the BMW Maps navigation system.
The technology package also provides Park Assist, Reverse Assist Camera and Reverse Assist. Parking Assistant Plus, with Park View, Panorama View and Remote 3D View functions.
