Square Enix has revealed how sales of Bravely Default II, the second installment of the series, have reached one million copies
Among the JRPG titles that can be enjoyed, an impressive number of them are available mainly on the Japanese consoles of Nintendo and PlayStation. While the latter, however, has many openings also with regard to the PC world, some gems among the existing role-playing games are identifiable only on the platform of the Kyoto company. Among the examples that we can list there is the recent new entry of Atlus which has been a full-blown success all over the globe, or Shin Megami Tensei V, but we can also add to the list other classic works already part of the Nintendo consoles, such as the famous Fire Emblem and Xenoblade.
Another popular JRPG series is undoubtedly that of Bravely Default, which after emerging with two chapters only on Nintendo 3DS then landed with a third sequel also on Nintendo Switch. After the period of exclusivity that linked Bravely Default II to the platform and therefore also arriving on PC, the title seems to have now achieved an important success, reaching at least one million sales.
Sales of Bravely Default II
It has been known for years that Square Enix has a rather evident talent in creating JRPGs and innovating their IPs; we can see this through Octopath Traveler, which he linked a very special narrative system together with a truly innovative HD-2D pixel graphic style. However, with Bravely Default II the videogame house wanted to try a more classic approach, which however seems to have been received more than positively by most gamers. To further demonstrate this, there are also the sales numbers of Bravely Default II, which has finally surpassed the one million copies sold.
This news does not actually come as a real surprise: after all, it was already known how the game had come to sell 950 thousand units on the Nintendo Switch alone. Clearly, the inclusion of the title on Valve’s platform in September this year gave a further boost to sales, finally bringing it to the coveted figure of six zeroes.
Although they may be not too high numbers, if compared to the most relevant titles released during the year, they are still quite impressive if you think about the genre of game we are talking about, that is a rather niche work and third installment of a franchise developed solely on a console. To commemorate this event, Square Enix put the game on sale in Japan, also opening a contest to residents of the country where a gift card or print by artist Naoki Ikushima was up for grabs.
