Call of Duty development team Vanguard has confirmed a new map for the fifth season, The Archon: “yes, you play by round”
With only a few weeks before the launch of the fifth season for Call of Duty Vanguardthe Treyarch Studios development team has confirmed that the latest map of the Zombies mode will be “The Archon“. The developers also revealed that the scenario it will be based on rounds, shifting the focus to traditional matches in place of new, more goal-based maps. The latter have in fact put Treyarch in a bit of trouble with the game’s fandom, leaving them with no alternative in terms of exterminating the living dead. With the new scenario, things are about to change.

Treyarch heard loud and clear requests from fans loud and clear, as in the tweet below they immediately made it clear how things stand: The Archon map will be structured in rounds, for the first time in Call of Duty’s Zombies mode. Vanguard. It took four seasons to bring back a fan-favorite gameplay loop (even with Shi No Numa from World At War), but better late than never. Despite being at the end of its life cycle, therefore, the game still has some cartridges to fire (pun not intended, we swear). We leave you to the post in question.

Neither Treyarch, nor Raven or Sledgehammer have confirmed the release date of the fifth season, but a wait of just over a week is expected. If the date was actually the August 24 as you think, we should probably have official announcements about it in the days to come. Even before then, however, we already have confirmation of what is one of the latest content coming to the game. We don’t know anything else besides the name of the map and the structure of the gameplay loop, but we can assume from the name that it is a new scenario. On October 28, the Changing of the Guard (again, unwanted pun) will see Modern Warfare 2 take over from this chapter.
