Hollywood is troubled by the disappearance of Carl Weathers, who died in his sleep on Thursday, February 1, at his home in Los Angeles at the age of 76. As is known, he achieved fame for having lent his face to the boxer Apollo Creed in the first four films of the Rocky saga. Sylvester Stallone, star of the franchise, dedicated a moving social tribute to his colleague, but he wasn’t the only one. Carl Weathers: Rocky and The Mandalorian actor dies
Before establishing himself as an actor, Weathers was a promise of American football and Canadian. In college he played for the University of San Diego, winning the Pasadena Bowl, then 8 games with the Oakland Raiders in the NFL. His big break in cinema came in 1976, when for the first time he played Apollo Creed, the reigning world heavyweight boxing champion. His adventure ended in 1985, with the fourth film of the series in which he was killed in the ring by Ivan Drago.
After learning of Carl Weathers’ death, Sylvester Stallone he shared a video on Instagram in which, visibly moved, he expressed his pain. In her short speech, the star specified that Carl was an integral part of her life, her career and her success. Without him, the Rocky saga would not have been the same.
