Clarence Gilyard actor best known for his roles in Die Hard and Walker Texas Ranger has passed away at the age of 66 after a long illness.
Clarence Gilyard dies at the age of 66, after a long illness, with an important acting career behind him and an equally prestigious role as a university professor. The actor, in fact, had been a professor of Cinema and Theater at the College of Fine Arts since 2006 and it was the University of Nevada in Las Vegas itself that announced the news of his disappearance. He had dedicated himself to teaching for years, but there are many roles that he has played in his life, both in the cinema and on the small screen.
Clarence Gilyard: roles and acting career
We have known him in important roles such as Die Hard – Crystal Trap, in which he played the hacker Theo in 1988 opposite Bruce Willis. And we have seen him above all on the small screen, where between 1989 and 1993 he played Sheriff Conrad McMasters in the legal TV series Matlock. But most of the public will remember him for the TV series Walker Texas Ranger, in which he played Trivette from 1993 to 2002the protagonist’s best friend, computer expert and former baseball player. Although not the absolute protagonist of the series, this character was his best friend, his sidekick and therefore a familiar face much loved by the audience.
After the disappearance of Angela Lansbury, known on the small screen as Mrs. Flatcher, even with this actor, Clarence Gilyard leaves a familiar face very dear to the publicbecause he starred for years in a TV series that accompanied our dinners and lunches at home.
Besides these two roles, the actor has also acted in theater and other films such as Top Gun and Karate Kid II – The story continues and as the protagonist in Off the Mark.
