If we have to think of a character who represents the perfect connection between films and TV series, that character we would name would be our beloved Hideo Kojima. The great master has always proven to be a huge movie enthusiast, in addition to that of video games. In a recent interview he had in fact confessed that he would have liked to work in the sector, which is why he agreed to make a Death Stranding film. Well, before this, however, Kojima also wanted to make a documentary where he shows us how he worked on the creation of the video game Death Strandingstarring the star of The Walking Dead, Norman Reedus.
What is Connecting Worlds, Kojima’s documentary film
To explain in a few words what this documentary film is, we would say that it has the objective of tell the story of the development of the Death Stranding video game. This title, we could say, invented both a new genre of gameplay and a new way of telling a story. Which is why the game director wanted to explain to us, with this documentary, how they created one of the most loved titles of both the PlayStation catalog and Kojima himself. Our film is a celebration of Death Stranding and the art form of video games. We really wanted to capture Kojima-sensei’s thoughts and philosophy behind the game, as well as every aspect that went into creating it. How his cultural influences and life experiences have played a key role within the themes of his work and his creativity. Not just for Death Stranding, but for studying him.
The documentary film is directed by Glen Milmer and produced by Ben Hilton for the Filmworks. Connecting Wolrds is a visionary documentary that captures and gives insight into the creative process of Hideo Kojima, who launched his independent video game studio and created his first video game, Death Stranding. In the documentary we will find some very famous people from the world of Hollywood, such as George Miller, Guillermo del Toro, Nicholas Winding Refn, Grimes, Norman Reedus, Woodkid, Chvrches and many others.
