Corsair HS65 Surround review: when software is revolution

In this article we are going to see the review of the Corsair HS65 Surround an evolution in the world of headphones signed by the US house

When we thought that the world of headphones had told us everything, here comes Corsair with a model that is not exalted by the innovation of alien materials or technologies but which still manages to surprise us with software that is always one step ahead.

The Corsair HS65 as mentioned boast of materials, albeit excellent, already seen but which still managed to surprise us. iCUE is a software that we have always appreciated because it is always updated and able to create a truly functional ecosystem. Now this software has taken a further step forward and has managed to make the way of listening to the sounds coming from our PC unique, thanks to the tecnologia Sonarworks SoundID.

Design and materials made in Corsair | Corsair HS65 Surround Review

As far as the materials chosen and the design are concerned, we are faced with a pair of headphones that offer elegance and comfort. No RGB lighting points. Choice should encourage us to incite the pitchforks to shout they are not real gaming headphones, but that actually makes us very happy. The pavilions are covered with imitation leather on the outside and in breathable fabric for the areas in contact with the epidermis.

Even the headband boasts the exterior in eco leather and the interior in memory foam, just like the earpads. The headphone holder is adjustable and reliable although it lacks the classic number system, or cleats, for adjustment. The connection wire starts from the right pavilion and ends with a classic 3.5 mm jack that can be connected to any device or to the external sound card supplied. Do not underestimate this small sound card because it will be thanks to it if we will be able to make the most of these headphones.

Also in the left pavilion we find the microphone, of excellent quality, flexible that runs on a vertical track. Thanks to its movement it will be activated or deactivated according to the position you give it, unfortunately the microphone is not removable, but in any case it does not annoy when it is not used.

The comfort of the headphones is given not only by the excellent materials, but also by the pavilions which, offering the possibility of rotating up to 90 °, grant an important ergonomics.

How do these Corsair HS65 Surrounds sound?

We used these headphones with and without the external sound card, and overall we were satisfied with the sound emitted by the Corsair HS65 Surround. Obviously they gave the best of them on PC, and why is soon said.

What makes these headphones really special is the Sonarworks SoundID feature which can only be used via iCUE. Once you have connected your headphones and started iCUE, you can start a guided tour to customize the sound of your headphones.

The software will make you listen to different sounds at different frequencies and according to your choices the equalizer will act accordingly. This way you can create a personalized profile like never before. Obviously, there remains the possibility of further modifying the profile or you can choose to use the various pre-sets available.

Although not perfect this technology in our opinion will bring a great innovation in the world of Corsair headphones and we hope to see this technology implemented also in the next models that will be launched on the market.

Returning to the raw sound we tried these headsets in games like Call Of Duty Black Ops Cold war, Call of duty Warzone, Apex Legends and whizzing on the Forza Horizon and Assetto Corsa circuits. At all times we were satisfied with the sound reproduced. With the only help of the 3.5 mm Jack the audio seemed good to us but for the reasons explained above only with the help of the supplied sound card and the support of iCue we have reached the real heart of these Corsair HS65 Surround.

Who should buy these headphones? | Corsair HS65 Surround Review

In conclusion, these headphones are perfectly suited to all gamers. Whether you have a console or a PC you can enjoy this headset but our advice is to take these headphones seriously especially for PC owners and gamers.

The unlockable Sonarworks SoundID system, for obvious reasons, only through software is not yet perfect but knowing Corsair will be a technology in constant change and in constant evolution.

The materials and the sound are good even if perhaps the price is precisely justified in a plausible way only for players who can fully exploit them.

The Corsair HS65 Surround are available in white or carbon at a price of 89.99 euros on the Corsair website.
