In exactly one month the annual David di Donatello ceremony will be held, the 69th to be exact, one of the most awaited events by Italian cinema enthusiasts. And as expected, among the great protagonists in the nominations are the two greatest Italian films of last year: There's Still Tomorrow and I Captain.
The trailblazers
There's Still Tomorrow is Paola Cortellesi's Italian blockbuster, which enters the David di Donatello 2024 with 19 nominations, an absolute record for a debut film. Immediately following it is Io Capitano, Matteo Garrone's film nominated for the 2024 Oscar as Best International Film, a title won by La zona d'Interesse.
