Variety has released its predictions on the line-up of the Cannes Film Festival 2022: David Lynch is also present with a new mysterious film
The May 17 will kick off on Cannes Film Festival 2022 and, although it is not yet known exactly which films will participate in it, the rumors about it are getting stronger. Variety in the last few hours has released an exclusive on possible competitors at the Festival, revealing many surprises. The main one is the presence of David Lynch with a new movie, of which nothing is yet known. It would be the great return behind the camera for the American director, who has practically given up the craft over the last few years. Let’s find out more about all the news of the last few days!
What do we know | David Lynch in Cannes with a new film
Variety cita two well-informed sources close to the festival who assume that among the films that will participate there will be a new feature film by David Lynch. The latest work is Inland Empire – The empire of the mind, dated 2006. The mysterious new film would have in the cast one of his muses, Laura Dern, in addition to his other recurring actors. It was known that the unpredictable filmmaker from Missoula, after Twin Peaks – The Return, was working on another project, but so far there had been talk of a new TV series, if not a continuation of the adventures of Agent Cooper and company. Apparently, however, it is a film in itself, as hypothesized by Variety. At this point, whatever the valid hypothesis is, it would be worth going to Cannes if only to witness Lynch’s return on the Croisette.
But the surprises don’t stop there. Variety has indeed released a complete list of 18 movies, which according to reliable sources should participate in the next Cannes Film Festival. Let’s find out together:
- Crimes of the Future di David Cronenberg
