Netflix’s announcements continue to never end: the streaming platform has published online the teaser trailer for Dead Boy Detectives, the new spin-off series from the world of The Sandman
Netflix presents a new TV series set in the same universe as The Sandmanfeaturing new characters found in Neil Gaiman’s comics, which the series is directed by Steve Yockey e Beth Schwartz. After the announcement of second season of The Sandmanwhere Thor and Loki should also appear, the universe continues to expand with new characters: the Dead Boy Detectives, who are shown in the official teaser trailer.

The Dead Boy Detectives are none other than ghosts of two dead children, Charles Rowland and Edwin Paine. The two, instead of going to the afterlife, decide to become gods detective of supernatural events. Their first appearance dates back to issue 25 of Sandman, in April 1991. The two then receive unpublished stories dedicated to them including Sandman presenta: Dead Boy Detectiveswritten by Ed Brubaker and designed by Bryan Talbot in 2001, and The Sandman Universe: Dead Boy Detectiveswritten by Pornsak Pichetshote and designed by Jeff Stokley in 2022. In the Dead Boy Detectives TV series the actors playing the two protagonists are George Rexstrew e Jayden Revriwho respectively play the roles of Edwin Payne e Charles Rowland. The cast also includes Kassius Nelson in the role of the medium Crystal e Yuyu Kitamura in the role of her friend Niko.
In the teaser of the next Netflix series we meet Charles Rowland and Edwin Paine, the brain and the mind behind the Dead Boy Detectives Agency. The two are both ghosts and best friends and despite being dead, they have decided to use their powers to solve supernatural cases. In the clip we see the two dealing with cases to solve which lead them to clashes with evil witches and fighting against bloodthirsty monsters. The two are helped by the clairvoyant Crystal and her friend Niko. The gang, together, will solve the biggest case ever. The series will be released in April 2024.
