Dead Space Remake: How to Unlock Alternate Ending

Let’s find out together, in this guide dedicated to Dead Space Remake, how to unlock the Alternative Ending inserted by Motive Studio in this remake of the 2008 work: simple, but not immediate

The month of January ended with the release of Dead Space Remake, a remake of the original work by Electronic Arts and Visceral Games dated 2008, which arrived on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X | Yes last January 27th. A Remake that has been particularly appreciated both by the public and by the critics, both for the effective quality of the title (which we will tell you about shortly, it won’t be long!) and because, net of everything, the first Dead Space is objectively the most appreciated chapter of the entire franchise. A franchise that has remained silent for years, from that 2012 in which Dead Space 3 peeped out. In short, come on: there was a big return.

A Remake… special

Dead Space Remake is not a 1:1 remake of the original. Although Isaac’s adventure (or rather, misadventure) on the Ishimura has remained practically identical from a narrative point of view, Motive Studio has made some strategic adjustments to lighten a gameplay that is certainly still solid, but which had some edges to be filed by now 15 years later. Other than these minor changesAn alternate ending has also been added, unlockable exclusively in New Game Plus. As? Let’s find out together in the next paragraphs.

Before starting, however, we remind you that here on TechGameWorld.com we have several Dead Space Remake themed guides. From how to get infinite credits using a simple glitch, to the best weapons to use to exterminate the Necromorphs, to what to know before starting to play it. And much more is coming, stay tuned!

First of all: complete it! | Dead Space Remake: How to Unlock Alternate Ending

Among the most interesting additions in Dead Space Remake compared to the original we find, surely, inserting an alternate ending. It is a secret addition that does not insert anything in terms of gameplay: therefore you will not find new bosses, nor new explorable areas. All this is expressed exclusively in some modifications at the narrative level. Well, without spoilers, it’s an ending that fits better with what will be seen later in Dead Space 2 (Remake also coming for the second chapter?).

To unlock the Alternative Ending you must, first of all, complete the main Campaign once. This is because this new movie can only be accessed in New Game Plus. The other prerequisite, and perhaps the most important, is that you have collected all twelve Shards of the Mark scattered throughout the various Chapters of the Campaign (except for Chapter 9 and in Chapter 12). To find out the location of all the Fragments of the Brand, you can refer to our specific guide that you can reach by clicking here.

The Fragments of the Mark | Dead Space Remake: How to Unlock Alternate Ending

Shards of the Mark will only be available in New Game Plus, so don’t bother looking for them if you haven’t already completed the game once. They are elongated collectibles that, like all others in the game, will project a hologram whenever Isaac is close enough to activate it. Often you will need the kinetic power of the protagonist, but we have explained everything to you in the dedicated guide. If you pay particular attention to exploring, taking a peek into every corner of the Ishimura, you probably won’t even need it.

Once you have collected all twelve Shards of the Mark, you will need to beat the game a second time to unlock the secret ending. Before doing so, however, you must absolutely remember to take them all to Captain B. Mathius’ room on the third floor of the “Crew’s Quarters” section. You can bring them all together or a little at a time, it’s up to you. The important thing is that, when you venture into the final stage of the game, you have already placed them all.
