Google Photos, photos ruined by a glitch

According to reports from 9to5Google, by reporting several complaints on social networks and in specialized forums, several people are having problems with Google Photos. In fact, it seems that some old photographs have some cracks caused by environmental damage, with others that are discolored as if exposed to water. Yet they were in the cloudshould moisture shouldn’t reach them.

The problem apparently isn’t a display one, as it seems to be persistent both in the iOS and Android app, as well as on the web. And users report that even after downloading them, the photos remain ruined.

Instead, users report that the original version on their smartphones or archives remains without problems. So it seems that the problem is in the algorithms with which Google uploads and stores the shots in the cloud. And if someone has deleted the digital copies after uploading them to the cloud, they have no way to recover an uncorrupted version of the photographs.

At the moment, Google has not recognized the problem reported by users. Probably, the Mountain View engineers are trying to figure out what may have happened. And maybe they are working on a solution.
