The month of June has a large array of news in store for Disney Plus users: from Cruella to Loki, from Raya and the last dragon to Luca, many new titles will be available between the classic subscription, the VIP and the catalog STAR
June 2021 will not only bring summer, but also a long list of titles on the Disney Plus platform. Raya and the Last Dragon – June 4th
Directed by Don Hall (Big Hero 6) and Carlos López Estrada (Blindspotting) Raya and the last dragon draws inspiration from the cultures and peoples of Southeast Asia. This animated film produced by big names in the genre, such as Osnat Shurer (Oceania) and Peter Del Vecho (Frozen – Kingdom of Ice, Frozen 2 – The Secret of Arendelle), is set in the fantastic world of Kumandra, where long ago humans and dragons lived together in harmony. But when an evil force threatened their land, the dragons sacrificed themselves to save humanity.
Meanwhile, 500 years have passed since those events, the same evil force has returned and Raya, a lone warrior, will be tasked with finding the last legendary dragon to unite his divided people. During his journey, he will learn that a dragon is not enough to save the world, it will also take trust and teamwork.
Loki – every Wednesday from June 9th
Highly anticipated spin-off of the MCU, Loki follows the story of the God of deception after the events of Avengers: Endgame. Tom Hiddleston returns in the role of the protagonist, together with Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Wunmi Mosaku and Richard E. Grant, while the direction is entrusted to Kate Herron.
The new series takes the time travel moves in Avengers: Endgame in which Loki managed to escape from the agents of SHIELD, creating an alternate reality. We will no longer have to deal with the one who sacrificed his life to save his brother Thor and give the world a chance to survive, but with the one who wreaked havoc on New York in the first phase of the Avengers. What to expect, then? There curiosity it is remarkable, since the project is surrounded by an aura of mystery not dissipated by the trailer.
Luca – from June 17
Luca is a Disney-Pixar production. Set in a beautiful seaside town on the Italian Riviera, the original animated film is the story of a young boy who lives an experience of personal growth during an unforgettable Italian summer.
Luca shares these adventures with his new best friend, but all the fun is threatened by a deep secret: he is actually a sea monster of another world, located just below the surface of the water.

Disney Plus: Cruella simultaneously with the cinemas thanks to the VIP subscription
Another important news for June (or rather, at the end of May) is the possibility of seeing the latest live action of a Disney classic simultaneously with the cinemas. This will be possible for Disney Plus subscribers thanks to theVIP access, paying the additional ‘one-off’ price of 21.99 euros. With this proposal it will be possible to see this and other films from the comfort of home, for a limited period of time, regardless of their presence in the Disney Plus catalog. In any case, the same production has announced that from 17 August 2021 Cruella will be available for all Disney Plus subscribers at no additional cost.
Directed by Craig Gillespie, the film stars Emma Stone as the legendary Cruella De Mon. Posing as a prequel, it explores the rebellious beginnings of what is regarded as one of Disney’s most celebrated, and notoriously hip, antagonists. Offering an exclusive take on this one-of-a-kind villain, the film is set in 1970s punk-rock London. Alongside Emma Stone, the cast also includes Oscar-winning actress Emma Thompson as the Baroness, the director of a prestigious fashion house who pulls Cruella out of obscurity as an up-and-coming designer.
Disney Plus: news on STAR for June 2021
