Lawmen: Bass Reeves Adds Award-Winning Actor Donald Sutherland to Streaming Coming Soon on Paramount+
Donald Sutherland has joined the cast of a new TV series from the creator of Yellowstone, Taylor Sheridan, centered on the famous hero of the American west Bass Reeves. The title, which inizialmente era 1883: The Bass Reeves Story, has now become Lawmen: Bass Reeves, which seems to suggest that it is no longer a spin-off of 1883, the first Yellowstone prequel, but an original series. It is also certain that it is an anthology series, with the aim of future interactions dedicated to others iconic lawmen who impacted American history, as confirmed by streaming service Paramount+. The news is that screen veteran and Emmy winner Donald Sutherland (The Hunger Games, The Undoing) has joined the cast in a major recurring role.

Created by Chad Feehan (Ray Donovan) and executive produced by him with Sheridan, Lawmen: Bass Reeves traces the story of the first black Marshal officer west of the Mississippi River. Considered one of America’s great frontier heroes, Reeves worked in the post-Reconstruction era as a federal peace officer in Indian Territory, capturing over 3,000 of the nation’s most dangerous criminals without ever getting hurt.
The filming of this new TV series is already underway in Texas, with the protagonist played by the actor David Oyelowo, already seen in Selma: The road to freedom and Nightingale. Sutherland will play the role of Isaac Parker, a prominent Fort Smith court judge with a complicated past. The two actors are joined by other cast members Lauren E. Banks, Forrest Goodluck, Barry Pepper, Demi Singleton and Dennis Quaid. We will of course keep you updated on further developments of this and other TV series!
