L’E3 2022 was officially canceled, this year the world of video games loses the most important annual event. The city of Los Angeles will not be the scene of the physical event or of any events and live online.
The announcement, first disclosed on Twitter through industry figures, such as Powers, PR Lead at Razer, was later confirmed by theTHISthe Entertainment Software Association. But let’s find out more

That the most important video game event could skip, had already been in the area for some time. Already last year E3 was held exclusively online due to the problems related to the pandemic, while this year, not even the online events will be saved. It seems that the decision, according to IGN USA, had already been made in January 2022 but it was not possible to reveal it before today.
Along with the cancellation confirmation, however, ESA raised spirits (at least tried) by promising a big return of the event in 2023 in a renewed formula. From the words of the association we read:
“E3 will return in 2023 with a revamped showcase that celebrates new and exciting video games and industry innovations. We will devote all our energy and resources to delivering a revitalized physical and digital E3 experience next summer. Whether it’s from the show floor or from your favorite devices, the 2023 showcase will bring together the community, media and industry in a whole new format and interactive experience. We look forward to introducing E3 to fans around the world live from Los Angeles in 2023. “
All is not lost
Video game lovers, do not despair, because all is not lost. It is in fact possible that some companies and software houses will keep alive the videogame spirit of the first days of June, usually the scene of E3, by organizing solo eventswithout the support of the management of E3 itself.
In the past, many companies, including Sony, they showed the new arrivals independently, always in that period of great ferment. In all likelihood, many others will decide to do the same even if currently, there are no official communications.
